Convert Traffic to Leads and Leads to Customers

While it’s true that traffic is the lifeblood of a website, things aren’t so simple. Traffic, in and of itself, will not be able to sustain a business behind the website. To be successful, those people that make up the traffic needs to convert into leads, and those same leads must be converted into customers. If getting from point A to B seems like a mystery to you, here are some tips on how to convert traffic to leads and leads to customers:

Take Advantage of Predictive Lead Scoring

Technically, for purposes of determining if a prospect is fit for your business, you can rely on manual research and good ol’ human intuition, but doing so is time consuming and you’ll end up losing out on a noticeable amount of good leads. Predictive lead scoring has now advanced to the point where it doesn’t need constant human supervision, and actually does a better job of nurturing leads whether you have 10 of them or 10 million.

Get Rid of Sales Biases

It can be hard to ignore that some lead generating channels have better chances of converting to sales compared to others, but depending too much on these preconceived notions will make you miss out on certain “diamonds in the rough,” which could have converted into very profitable customers but went through the wrong channels.

Tap Into Outside Sources

There’s nothing wrong with being aggressive and going for the same leads that everyone else is courting. After all, if all of your customers are going after the same channel, it’s pure naiveté to think that there isn’t something good going on in there. However, you shouldn’t neglect the prospects that everyone else is ignoring. Maybe they’re still “green,” but you could nurture those into profitable leads. They may have added a bunch of new employees, opened up a new branch, or invested in a new piece of software. Make an attempt to catch these new leads as they are sprouting.

Train Your Reps Into Being Nurture-Specific Reps

If you want to convert traffic to leads and leads to customers, having reps that are customer-centric isn’t enough. They also need the importance of being nurture specific. Basically, it’s not enough to teach reps that prospects “need to be assisted.” Rather, they need to be assisted “towards purchasing or returning for another purchase.” It might not seem different to most reps, but you should explain the difference. The only thing you have to keep in mind with this part is to nurture the reps as well. Don’t force the behavior via quotas and mandates enforced through penalties.
